How we recruit
Volunteering is an important and complementary part of Australia's aid program. Volunteer assignments are often part of long-term partnerships at a country or organisation level. Each assignment is intended to develop a host organisation's capacity - through skills exchange, processes, systems or resources.
The overseas host organisations work with the respective AusAID partner - Austraining International, Australian Volunteers International and Australian Red Cross - to develop volunteer assignments. Each assignment is developed with collective outcomes and quality standards. Objectives are aligned with the Australian Government's aid program.
AusAID's partner organisations manage the recruitment, preparation and deployment of volunteers on behalf of the Australian Volunteers for International Development program. People apply for volunteer assignments directly with AusAID's partner organisations, and a merit selection process is applied, based on a candidate's skills, experience and suitability for each defined assignment.
