Host organisations
Volunteers are assigned within host organisations in many countries. Host organisatons include non-government organisations (NGOs), universities and government departments. Volunteers work with colleagues in these host organisations and contribute to developing capacity within the organisation by sharing skills and experience, increasing resources or working on systems and processes.
Host organisations develop volunteer assignments with Core Partners and manage Australian volunteers as part of their staff team. Responsibilities of host organisations include:
- supervise volunteer work plans
- identify key colleagues for volunteers to work with
- provide a safe and secure working environment with adequate workplace facilities and resources, and
- committing to sustainable development and capacity building.
